Daily Sketch -- Hand of NOD

Here's another quick sketch experimenting with tools in Painter. This time, the scratchy palette knife. Click on the picture to view the full effect.

palette knife is awesome... i use the subtle palette knife alot.

if you want to make things glow:
1.color the glowy part in
2.then make a layer with the Color Dodge blending options and color on that layer with the same color.
3.and on that same layer then get some white (or almost white) and color in the center of the glowy area. (neon/glowing stuff tends to have really saturated color on the edges and get really white/light towards the center)
4. make another layer and switch back to the original color, use the digital airbrush (or any smooth/soft airbrush with low opacity) on top of it to have that ring of light round the glowing source.

blargh its better if i make a visual demonstration of sorts.
and this is not the only way to make things glow too.
